As part of BEYOND MATTER, a hybrid exhibition project called ‘Immaterial Display’ will be developed in collaboration with the Centre Pomidou Paris, in which the latest methods of documenting, preserving and mediating cultural assets will be tested and presented for use in a museum context. On the basis of two historical exhibitions, which are to be made re-experienceable by means of VR technology, an attempt will be made to make knowledge and history sensually/multilayeredly experienceable.

In order to be able to carry out the planned reconstruction of the historical exhibitions Les Immatériaux (1985, Centre Pompidou) and Iconoclash (2002, ZKM) as an experienceable 3D model, both archive material and documents of the former participating curators* must be prepared and digitized.

In order to scan the collection objects of the ZKM | Karlsruhe, which were shown within the Iconoclash exhibition, a mobile photogrammetric procedure was tested together with Weiss AG, which makes the digitization of museum holdings, especially three-dimensional objects, possible for the museum staff themselves without having to bring along great technical expertise. The aim is to be able to present hardware at the end of the project period that can be optimally used by museums for documentation and digitisation with the addition to create high definition 3D models.
