Matter, Non-Matter, Anti-Matter. Past Exhibitions as Digital Experiences. Panel Discussion

We welcome you to visit and experience the installation Matter, Non-Matter, Anti-Matter. Past Exhibitions as Digital Experiences.

The opening of the exhibition, augmented with a panel discussion, will be held on Thursday 17 March from 17:00-19:00 o’clock, and will take place in the main lobby of the Väre-building at Otaniemi campus where the exhibition will be on view from 14-29 March.

The panel discussion starting at 18:00, moderated by prof. Lily Diaz-Kommonen will host Harri Laakso (Head of Department of Art and Media, Aalto University), Anne Mäkijärvi (Digimuseo.fi) and Jussi Nuortena (National Archive of Finland).

Aalto University Department of Art and Media, a partner in the Creative Europe research project Beyond Matter – Cultural Heritage on the Verge of Virtual Reality are hosting an exhibition tour of the Matter, Non-Matter, Anti-Matter which begins in Väre, continues to Helsinki Central Library Oodi and finishes in May at the Design Museum.

Panelists: 

Harri Laakso

TaT, is Professor of Photography Research at Aalto University. He is Head of Department of Art and Media. He has curated many exhibitions, including co-curating the Falling Trees exhibitions in the Finnish and Nordic Pavillions at the Venice Biennale (2013).

Anne Mäkijärvi

MBA, University of Tampere is the business development manager for Digimuseo.fi, which successfully developed the well-known ‘museum card’ (museokortti). She has also worked as Sales and Marketing Manager at Jon Nurminen Foundation. 

Jussi Nuorteva

Jussi Nuorteva, DTh, PhLic, docent (University of Helsinki), has been working as the director general of the National Archives and the National Archivist of Finland since 2003. Nuorteva is also appointed member in the International Advisory Council of UNESCO’s Memory of the World programme.

 

The installation experience and panel discussion event are free of charge.
